How real time tracking will help to service business?

Unlike the goods industry, where success is mainly measured by the amount of goods sold per employee, the service industry is trickier and needs a better mechanism to measure employee performance.

Note that field service personnel can serve many customers and generate more revenue business, but this may not mean the services provided are up to the customer’s expectation. This calls for mechanisms to monitor employee activities, and how they affect the customer. If it is not done, the business may end up collapsing in the long run, which is one of the greatest misfortunes that can befall any business.

• Improve security

Just like real time tracking for other industries, this one will improve the security of service business. The business is able to monitor the progress of their consignment and employees, thus ensuring they are secure all through. In case there is any attempt to mishandle the consignment, such as attack by bandits, the business will alert the security, providing details on the likely hideout for the consignment, and this will lead to quick recovery. The employees themselves will not be able to misplace the goods without being noticed, regardless if they do it intentionally or unintentionally.

• Increase employee accountability

Field services are more accountable for their actions if there is a real time tracker, since they are fully aware that their movement is being tracked. They are therefore forced to take less time to arrive at the customer’s business place and provide the required services without having to delay unnecessarily. Employees are also fully accountable for any misplaced consignment since the entire stopover points are recorded, and any inconsistency is likely to be noticed.

• Reduce costs

The real time tracking services helps to reduce some cost likely to be incurred by a business. For instance, the field service team does not necessarily have to keep in touch on their progress with the journey, since they are already being tracked. On the other end, fuel and transportation costs are reduced in that the transport channel will not have to stop unnecessarily to pick unauthorized personnel, neither can it manage to change the route, or course without a proper excuse, since everything is being recorded. Thus some miscellaneous costs can be greatly reduced by installing a real time tracker.

• Promotes service delivery

Due to the high level of accountability by the field service team, the customers will enjoy high quality services all through. This will improve the company’s reputation, thereby increasing its customers tremendously.
